Zen Buddhism teaches us that taking care of one’s self is taking care of the world. Yet it is so easy to forget that first step - actually caring for and about yourself. Following a short dharma talk, we will practice mindfulness meditation, an attentional practice which helps balance our innate capacities for wakefulness and kindness, along with 9-part breathing, a restorative pose, simple stretching and dedicating the merit. Tending to ourself helps us be a better friend to everyone.
-
In this gentle, guided writing practice, Lisa Weinert offers a holistic approach to writing that begins with the body and breath to uncover your own hidden narratives and the transformation they can bring from the inside out.
Regardless of whether you think of yourself as a writer, a reflective writing practice offers deep insights that support rest, relaxation, and integration. You’ll walk away with tools to create a sustainable writing practice that offers transformative self-care.
-
Join Hala for a stillness practice that recognizes that many of us don’t know how to be still. And includes those for whom movement is necessary in order to settle. Together we will explore how resourcing ourselves through grounding, rhythm, breath and choice can be a doorway into settling our body, mind and heart. We will start with simple, gentle movement and make our way towards a stillness that feels containing, supportive and spacious.

In our addiction to over-stimulation, rest is a revolutionary act. When we slow down and refuse to buy into “hustle culture”, we take back our power, stay centered, lead from within and liberate ourselves from the capitalistic norm of extraction.
Our nervous systems need healing. Indulge in a sweet restorative practice designed to unwind, replenish and soothe your nervous system. In stillness and silence, we connect with psyche and the wellspring of our deep, inner wisdom emerges.
-
How do you stay “grounded” during this season. What are your rituals, and practices that you do off the mat and in your day.
-
Nurture your heart and offer peace to your soul with compassionate self care techniques. The class will include restorative and gentle yoga postures, self massage, breath work, and guided meditation - with ambient meditative music played live by Avahara.
wednesday, november 30
-
We will practice a few long-held yoga poses on the floor (Yin Style) for settling and restoring our energy system (our kidney chi), after which we will engage in a gentle laying breath practice that is meant to balance our upper and lower energetic patterns for a deep restoration of the inner system. Please have any props you need for laying in a comfortable way, ie: a yoga mat, possibly a low cushion for under your head and knees, and a blanket to draw over you.
-
What do you do when you can’t fit in time for “relaxation” or rest”, what practices restore you?
-

Together we will flow mindfully through a slow breath-based practice and a deep guided savasana to help us remember that support, nourishment, and connection are always available to us. Our practice will be a collective prayer for remembrance,a ritual for rest, and a refuge for souls. May you return with us to rest. May you return to remember that there is always ground—the earth, our earth—underneath you to hold you up. May you return with us to rest; to remember that the breath—our breath, the air—is all around you, just waiting for more room to fill you, to sustain you. May you remember that our earth and our breath are always here for you; always here to support and nourish you. Always loving you. Here, now. May you remember, you are always welcome to rest on the earth, with our breath, just as you are. May you return with us; and may you remember to return again and again.

I am thankful to have you here.
It is with great gratitude, and excitement that I have the honor to host these heart-centered, luminary teachers. I am looking forward to sharing this rich week of rest with you, to holding space for us and to be held in our loving community.
