This is Part of a Three-Day Training That Includes The Foundations Of Teaching Restorative Yoga And Level 2 Restorative Yoga Teacher Training. You can choose to take one or both of these trainings.
FOUNDATIONS OF RESTORATIVE TEACHER TRAINING
This training is perfect for new and experienced yoga teachers as well as body workers, nurses, and physical and occupational therapists.
This one day training will offer you a clear understanding of restorative yoga, the science behind it, and how to build a healing restorative practice whether you are leading full Restorative classes, incorporating them into your group classes, developing personal programs for your private students or patients or creating your own personal home practice.
Training will include lecture, teaching experience with partner work with exercises for propping and using voice and verbal quest for deeper healing and transformation. There will be lots of opportunity for discussion and questions and answers.
Most importantly, you will gain a deeper understanding of the subtle energy body in restorative poses, and how to develop more dynamic use of props to address the individual needs of your students. You will leave confident in and inspired!
This training covers:
- Science of the Relaxation Response Theory
- Anatomy of the Nervous System and Subtle Body
- Philosophy and Applications of Restorative Yoga Asana
- Neurological, physical, psychological, and energetic benefits
- Use of Basic Props and creating
- Unique use of verbal cueing and voice as a tool to deepen student's relaxation.
- Handling Energetic and Emotional Release
- Building a restorative practice and attuning the body, breath and mind.
LEVEL 2 RESTORATIVE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
1 Of 4 Modules For 100 Hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training
This training looks deeply into how voice, touch, and intention are applied in Restorative Yoga, enhancing your personal abilities, and deepening your understanding of and experience with Restorative Yoga. In this training, you will further develop your understanding of the nervous system, physiology, and subtle energy body in restorative poses. You will deepen your knowledge of the therapeutic impact of restoratives during times of illness, injury, pain, and other stressors, learning to support optimal energy flow to all the body’s systems and working on physical, physiological, energetic, and emotional levels.
For caregivers, doctors, nurses, yoga teachers, aspiring writers, and anyone interested in personal narrative as a healing path to recovery.
World renowned Buddhist monk, Pema Chödron, will be presenting a workshop The Way To Freedom: 37 Practices of the Bodhisattva.The weekend includes talks, guided meditations, and question-and-answer sessions with Pema Chödrön. This workshop is co-facilitated by Tim Olstead with optional yoga classes taught by Jillian Pransky. This retreat is appropriate for professionals as well as beginners, advanced students, and everyone in between.

Yoga Touch for Healing is an experiential training designed to help you cultivate the full potential of your hands-on offerings, helping your students access deeper states of healing and insight. With an emphasis on Restorative Yoga postures, we explore how to sense your students’ needs and how to use touch to move energy. Each trainee discovers their personal style and abilities and develops confidence in their approach to hands-on teaching and healing.
Topics Covered will include:
- Simple techniques for using touch therapeutically during restorative yoga poses.
- Working with special body positioning to help release tension, move energy and support deeper healing
- Dealing with injury and illness as well as energetic and emotional release
- Creating boundaries

How to lead your students into deeper states of rest and healing

This workshop is for yoga teachers, healers, and care givers of all kinds to further develop your skills and tool bag in offering transformational savasanas, restorative classes, relaxation sessions, and meditations.
You will learn how to artfully choose words, create imagery, sequence instructions, and craft a pace and tone that will help your students initiate their own healing and rejuvenation.
We will cover general principles of the koshas, nervous system, right and left brain learning and perception, the latest neurological research supporting relaxation and language, and teacher student connection.
We will discuss techniques such as progressive relaxation, meditation, imagery, yoga nidra, and breathing practices to help our students initiate their parasympathetic response of 'rest and digest."
You will leave skillful and confident in guiding 'in the moment experiences', instead of relying on scripts. Your students will benefit from this personal and purposeful approach to conscious relaxation.

One of Four Modules for 100 Hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training
This in-depth professional training focuses on the therapeutic applications of yoga for working with students and clients who have serious and chronic health conditions. Participants gain skills in observation and assessment and learn how to adapt techniques for individual needs and circumstances.
Similar to Module 1, you learn a holistic approach to illness, injury, and healing and develop a knowledge base for addressing students’ conditions and leading them toward an experience of wellness. In Module 2, emphasis is placed on working in a variety of settings, and treating structural, functional, and chronic health issues. You will learn how to work with back, spine, shoulder, pelvis, and leg injuries, as well as chronic diseases such as cancer, MS, fibromyalgia, and heart conditions. Consideration is also given to addressing the side effects of medication, serious injury, and chronic illness.
