feeling depleted? fill back up with a deeply restorative meditation
"every breath is a sacrament, an affirmation of our connection with all other living things, a renewal of our link with our ancestors and a contribution to generations yet to come. our breath is a part of life's breath, the ocean of air that envelopes the earth." —david suzuki
Over the last few years, we’ve been living through unprecedented times and steeped in great uncertainty.
Every spiritual lineage teaches that uncertainty is the only thing that’s certain in our world. While this has always been the deepest truth, in these times so many shifts and events are coming at us at overwhelming speeds and through unfathomable conditions.
Before we can receive what’s happening, learn, and integrate new ways of being and understanding, the next trauma is already upon us.
I don’t have a lot of words to address the conditions on our planet at this moment in time. Nor do I have the expertise, historic knowledge, or wisdom to share commentary of any kind.
What I have to offer are practices to help us actively practice peace within ourselves, so we can practice and act from a place of peace with others.
Personally, I am practicing all day long, on most days.
I practice to be resourced, have energy, to not only feel less depleted but also to stay conscious about the way I am contributing to my relationships and environments around me. So that I can pause more to expand my awareness.
I am pausing for grounding, for opening, and for balancing my nervous system with the intention to not only care for myself but to also be resourced enough to work with my fear and anguish, so that I do not add more or amplify fear within myself or the environment.
I am pausing over and over again.
This is what helps me create conditions to choose how I am participating in the moment, so that I have more ability to contribute to more peace, rather than more aggression, on the planet.
✨ I am continually remembering that the ground is under my body.
✨ I am continually coming back to my breath.
✨ I am continually releasing excess tension and gripping.
✨ Over and over again.
And once I get grounded, I draw my attention to the space around me so I can expand on purpose — again and again throughout the day.
May you be finding ways to care for yourself. May you remember that your practice is always right here for you.
