learning to pause: practices for relaxing into the present moment

learning to pause: practices for relaxing into the present moment
In this practice, we are learning to use our body as a barometer and a tool to create a more peaceful environment in our own selves, in service of whomever we come in contact with. We practice regarding ourselves and our circumstances with an attitude of kindness and curiosity. We practice meeting our feelings, challenges, observations—and the events around us—with the intention of staying relaxed and open in the face of it all.

learning to pause: practices for relaxing into the present moment
In this 2-hour online restorative yoga retreat, we’ll practice listening inwardly to our bodies, breath, and mind, and outwardly to sound, and to others with more curiosity and openness. We practice noticing how our thoughts and feelings come and go when we don’t add on.

learning to pause: practices for relaxing into the present moment
In this class we will explore “letting be” and how that affects the nervous system and our ability to respond to people and situations with wisdom and compassion. In this practice, we notice the places we are gripping and clenching and holding — the jaw, the shoulders, the fists, and the belly.

learning to pause: practices for relaxing into the present moment
In this class we will focus on the breath to help us ARRIVE in the present moment. In the present, we are typically not in mortal danger, even though our body is reacting as if we are. The breath is the tool we use to, one inhale and exhale at a time, to rhythmically calm down the amygdala/fear circuitry. And once the body understands that we are not in danger, we can use the breath to widen our awareness beyond the zoom lens of fear and threat. Breath by breath, this can change our lives.
